Curtis R McClinton
Curtis R McClintonI was surprised and pleased to receive a call asking me to be Curtis' webmaster from a referral.  Yes, I saw the first game the KC Chiefs won the Super-Bowl with Curtis McClinton. He had 3 goals for his website; promote his abilities, sell DVD and CDs on-line,  and autograph football trading cads. The first time I heard Curtis sing the National Anthem, I cried.  I still cry. My element was piano and guitar.  I instantly was in awe of the Gift of Curtis' voice.   Curtis saved over $5,000 for a comparable HTML coded website creation and saved $400 on monthly hosting.  Video, audio, on-line shopping for less than $1,000 ... I am honored that he chose me to be his web master. Check out his website.  http://curtisrmcclintonandassociates.com/

Baby Room by Nana http://babyroomsbynana.com/
As a female web master with grandsons, I was so excited to an excuse to have a fun, colorful and girly website to design for Mary Seilbolt ... Baby Rooms by Nana.  She is updating her website with some new items.   http://babyroomsbynana.com/   As a webmaster, it makes my day when the websites I design can be maintained by the client.  And then to see Mary see the free marketing opportunity of a Blog and FB ... this is why I choose to do with professional, quality websites.  Mary emailed me when she was in Hawaii and took an order from a new client in Texas!!!!!  You deserve to have a website that you can maintain and appear to semi-retire on a beach like Mary.  Cathy Weaver loves her grandson and she loves to tell the story her grandson said "GG I need my minky".  p.s.  You cannot get Minky fabric at your local JoAnn's. Cathe

Armed Forces Day May 21
May ... possibly the busiest of all months~  A belated Mother's Day! School ends, Graduations (a personal Congrats to Dan McNickle!), birthdays, May is Mental Health Awareness month, Weddings, Armed Forces Day, and Memorial Day.
Armed Forces Day May 21
With today's volunteer Armed Forces, military parents can't attend the first day of school, plays, concerts, games, award ceremonies, weddings or Graduations. The once-in-a- lifetime events that our soldiers miss -- such as the births of their children or their child's first steps --  and walking across the stage to receive the diploma can't be recaptured.

Yes, photos and YouTube are a resource that my Uncle Jerry didn't have during VietNam. Although married at 18 with a baby on the way, being a reservist didn't keep him from serving in VietNam. At 12, I moved into my aunt's house and helped with my cousin Stephanie for almost 1.5 years.

Every night, we would watch the B&W TV while we ate dinner. It was the 70's, so the army footage we saw was several weeks old.
Every night, my aunt almost stopped breathing, as each flag draped coffins were lowered out of the airplanes, placed on wood pallets and without any escort, without any music, without any prayers, the flagged draped coffins were taken into the hangers. Pres. Bush decided not to show the current veterans flagged drape coffins.

Children often may not see their mother or father for a year, which contributes to the stresses they are under.

Since military families move frequently, this means the children often have to adjust to new schools, a new place to live, finding new friends, saying goodbye to old friends, trying out for new teams, getting introduced to a new curriculum, and a host of other challenges.

First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr Jill Biden have created a website called Joining Forces to help educate us, in the states and around the world, how you can help a military family in this new viral world.

They tell me their are families who do not have all 24 of your family members living 15 minutes away; Irish Catholic, yep!  Yet, we are a family of educators and first responders.

Say thank you, mow the yard, offer to babysit, prepare a meal, a gift card, $10 for gas money ... What are you going to do the make a difference in the life of a military family ... after all, they just removed the top terrorist in the world.  How do you thank those Navy Seals ... check out the website above to find an idea.  Peace, Cathe

Pathway To Hope Golf Fundraiser

God graced us with a perfect May day for the Pathway To Hope© Annual Golf Fundraiser.  This being my 3rd year as a family member to volunteer, I came home ecstatic! The positive energy, the generosity amongst the golfers, once again, overwhelmed me.

The golfers took off work and paid so that Pathway To Hope© can continue to provide the programs that educate me, other family members and our loved ones living with mental illness.
Miracles were taking place yesterday!

Those golfers and those volunteers living well with their mental illness and participating in the tournament and no one could tell the difference. That’s the success of Pathway To Hope© … transforming lives of the mental ill.
 http://pathwaytohope.org/

Thank you for participating!  Some faces I’ve seen for 3 years, and you have no idea that PTH provided me a safe place in the very dark years.  My son was homeless for almost 6 years. People ask me as a mother, how could I sleep at night not knowing where my son was; if he was eating, did he have shelter on the infamous Kansas blizzards with temperature negative double digits?

Pathway To Hope© weekly family group meetings, education, and lots of prayers, PTH waited along side of me so when my son asked for help, as a family, we were ready.  My son is taking meds and it is truly a miracle he is with us today. A personal thank you from this mom.  Looking forward to seeing you again next year and invite a golfer or two~ Cathe

How I really feel about FaceBook
There are 6 rules that I, as a web master, must follow. There are NO RULES in social media.

For 15 years, I worked for a Johnson County school district as the Facility Usage Manager. I co-designed, tested, implemented, taught principals the software and was IT support when I had 30 buildings, 6 pools, and one Athletic Complex.

I’m pleased to say that software and the policies I recommended to the Board of Education are still in effect allowing, one legal way,  the District can raise funds. I get no royalties off this software … but I sleep well knowing I had a positive aspect as my tenure.

It was also my job to work with school admin and the police to keep students and staff safe from pedophiles and sexual predators. Had Mark Zuckerberg, FB creator, attended the School District, we would have worked to protect him from pedophiles and sexual predators that has become easier for the bad guys and harder for the good guys with the internet growing so fast.

SOCIAL MEDIA HAS NO RULES TO FOLLOW … BUT WEBSITES HAVE 6 RULES TO FOLLOW.  It should concern you and you should be educated.

To Mark, I hope you never have to watch the pretty little Kindergarten student walking away with the bad guy and crying so hard you have to write down the name as you are so shocked and the tears won’t stop.

As an ethical web master, I follow my conscience and morals. I am blessed that I have the option to interview and choose which clients to work with. I do not do porn / hate sites.

I turned down $10,000 for a porn site. I sleep well at night.

For too long, I have been politically correct. If you are going to choose to work with me, you should know why I am so passionate about growing your website and keeping you internet safe.

As always, my recommendations are just that; recommendations from 8 years as a web master and 15 years keeping students / staff safe from sexual predators.

Zuckerberg, 26, is valued at $6.9 billion this year. Many of my clients have a FB / Twitter pages not created by them and so many untruths.

I challenge Mark Zuckerberg to work with all schools internationally to make every student / staff member internet safe. He should  meet  the pedophiles and sexual predators.

He should fund and work with law enforcement and President Obama and take some of Mark’s money to fix a problem he added to with his ignorance and arrogance.  Cathe

A Police Officer’s Prayer
I hope you find yourself surrounded by family and friends this Christmas season.  If there is someone missing from your table, perhaps our active military keeping us safe, and for all First responders ... I offer this Irish Prayer for my brother.  For 25 years, we have worked our Christmas dinner around my brother's schedule.  Yes, he did and could be off shift rotation ... but this is what he enjoys.

A Police Officer’s Prayer

Lord, I ask for courage

Courage to face and conquer

My own fears, Courage to take

Me where others will not go.

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others

And strength of spirit to lead others.

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well,

Dedication to my community,

To keep it safe.

Give me, Lord, concern for those

Who trust me,

And compassion for those who need me,

And please, Lord, through it all,

Be at my side.

KC Premiere Night at the Movies Fundraiser ...  What night to remember for Pathway To Hope,
http://pathwaytohope.org/news___events.html ... a non-profit transforming lives of those with Mental Illness! Over 250 in attendance saw a new face to Mental Illness.  They saw the red head who laughs about mental illness, aka Sharon Lawrenz Ex Dr, looking elegant and enjoying herself after fighting fiercely in court to protect and keep those living with mental illness out of jail on meds in treatment.  As I scanned the faces in the room I saw all listening intently as family members and survivors spoke on the video.  Sharing the Hope and smiling when our speaker was upstaged by Hope, our little puppy, a real Live Auction item.  Diamonds, a Puppy named Hope, generosity flowing throughout the room with friends … old and new … all in allegiance to change the look of Mental Illness with the work done by Pathway To Hope.org.  A huge thank you to God for putting Pathway To Hope in my life … my sons’ donated artwork on 250 programs and on the website.  A silent testament from a talented artist homeless for years due to mental illness, now in full charge of his illness and Recovery … his donated artwork throughout the room.  Don’t give up Hope.  Pathway To Hope is saving lives and transforming lives of those with mental illness and their families.  Hope, our puppy, went for over $1000 in auction.  You still have time to donate and share the Hope …  http://pathwaytohope.org/news___events.html  Cathe, Web master; PathwayToHope.org

Remembering Veterans Day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x05nDTxNIZg&feature=player_embedded
Sweet voices of children are always moving as you listen and watch the Kindergarten students sing and sign God Bless America.  I can’t think of a better way to Remember and Honor all our Veterans … active / retired … some in marked graves across the oceans  … some MIA … each so Brave to serve for us and our future!  You see, I was the last of those to be drafted teenagers … except I was a girl.  That wasn’t even an option for me.  Guys had to register for the draft or marry … Girls not allowed.  So much protest in the sixties ... my uncle Jerry drafted at 18; I lived with my aunt to help with her newborn babe.  In the days of B&W TV, on the national news each night as we ate dinner watching the soldiers brought home.  Coffins and more coffins draped in flags gently loaded with RESPECT by their fellow service men into hearses from the cargo of the airplane.  Johnson’s boys they were called.  Viet Nam vets still bonded so tightly today and yet, no one talks about what they went through.

My father and uncle served in the Korean war.  They consider themselves a lesser soldier because the Korean was technically over.  Both still served their country … my new Aunt going home.  They had gotten married 3 days before my uncle went to basic and just celebrated their 57th anniversary.  As we looked for the only 2 pictures of my dad in service, I found out my brother’s first  and true dream was to fly planes for the Army.  One problem, my brother is over 6 feet.  You had to be 5’9” or less to fly in the 70’s.  Now he is a first responder of a different kind.  I remember going to both cemeteries with my Grandmother with Poppies.  She had such a large family.  She lost all her bothers to wars.  Her only sister died when her petticoat caught on fire from the wood burning stove.  Guess you can tell we’re a large Catholic family.  In a few more years, I will no longer be around to remember what Poppies were for.  My grandson in 1st grade and having to learn the Pledge of Allegiance not to be confused with the Our Father.  I have stood so serenely on the Pearl Harbor memorial … feeling I was trespassing.  Yes, you can see and it seems almost touch the boats where they sank that Dec 7th.    Memorial Day is a day to remember fallen vets.  This Veterans day should be a holiday to say thank you to all Vets for their bravery.  I was pleased to be invited to a wedding at Ft Leavenworth.  Btw … you cannot Google to get directions.  Obviously those of us who made the clearance check had to bring lots of ID, were checked and double checked as we proceeded the caravan to the small chapel.  As I always do, I thank a veteran, police officers, fire fighters for their service.  When I was on the base, I got the smile and nod that said they didn’t hear thank you regularly.  I find it very interesting that we can see war “virtually” on CNN and yet, we are still kept from viewing our returning vets in their flagged draped coffins.  That’s  a disgrace to our fallen Veterans. Former Facility Usage Mgr for Olathe Schools Speaks out on Sick day of Bus drivers
As a grandparent of a child, as the former Facility Usage Mgr for the Olathe School District for 15 years at the main office, Olathe Schools never cancelled schools during the day, regardless of the weather, as those children had no other way home. Perhaps there was no one home to go home to. Olathe Superintendents always put the Olathe students safety first ... coming next to my cubicle to ask if every student on every bus got home. Only then, would Administration leave. Everyone needs a paycheck. Put your dispute with the bus company and do not put our students, my grandchildren, at risk. That's very unprofessional. Students / children's safety comes first. Also to schedule this on the day the number in attendance was reported to the State of Kansas ... perhaps that didn't work out so well for you sick people who left children alone and in harm's way.
